BorgoSanto

On a road that winds through the heart of the Crete Senesi, halfway between Asciano and Buonconvento, lies the medieval village of Chiusure. Just a stone’s throw from the village, you will find the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, an iconic landmark of the region. Both the village and the Benedictine monastery border the Val d'Orcia National Park, a region that became a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2004. The surrounding landscape, which has remained largely free of development, is characterized by stunning chalk cliffs that fall dramatically below forests, fields and majestic cypress trees. This scenery has attracted both artists and spiritualists for over a millennium.
